High School Tutor (Grades 9-12)

We are currently seeking high school tutors (Grades 9-12) across all Ontario curriculum subjects, including English, Math, Sciences, and Humanities, to join our in-person tutoring team.

About the Role

As an AYG Tutor, you will guide students through individualized or small-group sessions, helping them strengthen subject knowledge, develop study strategies, and build confidence in their learning journey. Sessions are designed to be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s needs.

This position is in-person only, and tutors must be able to commute to our learning centre.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring for high school students (Grades 9-12) in one or more subject areas (English, Math, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Spanish, Law, Creative Writing, Business, Social Sciences, The Arts and Humanities).

  • Support students in understanding course concepts, completing homework, and preparing for assessments, assignments, and exams.

  • Adapt teaching style to meet the learning needs and goals of each individual student.

  • Create and maintain an encouraging, motivating, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Follow the Ontario curriculum and use resources provided by AYG.

  • Track student progress as set out by AYG SOPs and communicate updates with the AYG team.

  • Uphold AYG’s non-competitive, growth-oriented teaching philosophy.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario high school curriculum (Grades 9-12).

  • Currently completing or have completed a post-secondary degree.

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is an asset.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Reliable, professional, and passionate about helping students succeed.

  • Must be able to work in-person at our centre (this is not a remote position)

  • A valid and current Vulnerable Sector Check and valid and current Criminal Record Check are required prior to employment. Applicants are responsible for obtaining these checks themselvesĀ 

Schedule and Commitment

  • Part-time position with weekday evening and/or weekend availability required

  • Consistent scheduling during the school year, with opportunities to continue through the summer

Compensation

$25/hr with performance-based raises
